The Mississippi River Learning Center site combines a mixed-use, river-focused space with the National Park Service Headquarters at Crosby Farm Regional Park. Serving as a national gateway to the Mississippi River, the Center welcomes visitors to experience the land, water, and culture of the river. The goal of the project is to create an innovative, signature center with year-round, river-oriented activities suitable for all ages.
Following the reveal of a final schematic design in October, the City and Great River Passage Conservancy will finalize partner roles and responsibilities, determine and secure funding, and eventually release a request for proposals to construct the Mississippi River Learning Center. Further design will be required to advance important aspects of the project such as material selection, more detailed technical drawings, dimensions, etc. and to prepare the project for construction.
